Child Photo Safety and Privacy

How KidStoryVideo handles child photos, public object URLs, AI processing, retention, deletion, and adult responsibility.

Last updated: 2026-07-13

The short version

KidStoryVideo is for adult account holders. Upload a child's photo only if you are the parent or legal guardian, or have the guardian's explicit permission. A photo is optional: you can create a fictional character from text instead.

How an uploaded photo is stored

Source photos are stored in Cloudflare R2 using a random, unguessable object key. The object URL is public to anyone who has the exact URL; it is not protected by a login or a signed URL. We do not list these URLs publicly, and predictable filenames or content hashes are not used. Because the storage is public by product design, do not upload a photo you would not permit the generation providers to process.

The upload endpoint accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF signatures and rejects SVG. A file is also subject to a server-side size limit.

Processing and retention

The source photo and story prompt are sent through our AI gateway to third-party generation providers to produce the illustrated reference. KidStoryVideo does not use uploaded photos to train its own models. Provider-side processing and temporary retention are governed by the providers used for the generation request.

Once the illustrated reference succeeds, KidStoryVideo attempts to delete the original source photo immediately. If generation fails or cleanup is temporarily unavailable, the source photo is scheduled for deletion no later than 24 hours after upload. A confirmed illustrated reference, saved character card, story plan, and generated video remain in project history until the story or account is deleted, subject to generation-provider availability and retention.

Controls available to you

  • Delete an individual story from its project page. This removes the story record and any original source photo that is still attached.
  • Delete the local KidStoryVideo account from Profile settings. The service attempts to remove owned uploaded objects before deleting database records.
  • Delete a saved character without breaking historical stories that already used it.
  • Contact support@kidstoryvideo.com if automated deletion fails or you need help identifying content.

Deleting a KidStoryVideo account does not automatically cancel a subscription with the payment provider; cancel active subscriptions from Billing first. It also deletes the local product account, not the separate Google or OneAuth identity account.

Safe-use checklist

Use a clear photo with no school badge, address, document, or other unnecessary personal information. Review the generated reference and script before continuing. Do not use generated media for identification, impersonation, or decisions about a child. Report unexpected or unsafe output to support with the short support reference displayed on the failed project.
